The Oregon State University Foundation honored Patricia Valian Reser, ’60, Hon. Ph.D. ’19, with the Lifetime Trustee award at a celebration during its winter board meetings on February 24, 2022. The award is the Foundation’s highest recognition for volunteer leaders.

Reser has made extraordinary contributions to the university through her service and philanthropy. Beyond her role as an OSU Foundation trustee, including 10 years on the executive committee, Reser co-chaired the billion-dollar Campaign for OSU and was the inaugural chair of the university’s governing board. Reser’s leadership gifts have supported many academic and athletic university facilities as well as students, programs and faculty.

Eric Schoenstein, current chair of the OSU Foundation board, presented the award, saying, “Pat is the North Star of what I try to achieve in my volunteer leadership, and I know many others would agree.”

The hybrid in-person and virtual celebration also featured recorded remarks about Reser’s deep impact on the university and the state from Oregon Gov. Kate Brown and Oregon U.S. Rep Suzanne Bonamici as well as Oregon State Interim President Becky Johnson, OSU Foundation President and CEO Shawn L. Scoville, OSU President Emeritus Edward J. Ray and others.
