The Bruce and Linda Hamilton Endowed Faculty Fund in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science
In 2023, Bruce and Linda Hamilton planned an estate gift to establish an endowed faculty fund in the School of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, as well as a veterinary scholarship fund and a Catalyst scholarship fund for high-achieving engineering students with financial need.
While in high school, Bruce caught a glimpse of Oregon State science programs through a two-week summer course held at the Corvallis campus, and he set his sights on engineering. While pursuing electrical engineering at OSU, he made sure to take the time to take one eye-opening course per term, ranging from glass blowing to the use of explosives.
Bruce went on to obtain a master’s degree from Ohio State University. In his career, he explored different areas of electrical engineering and leadership through his roles at Bell Labs, Tektronix, Astec, Emerson Electric and Pulse Electronics. During his time working at the Tektronix headquarters in Beaverton, Oregon, he met his future wife, Linda, who also worked at Tektronix as a hybrid circuits packaging manager.
The Hamiltons are now retired and own a horse ranch and book publishing business near San Diego.
