Tykeson Faculty Scholar in Energy Systems Engineering

December 31, 2010

A $250,000 gift from the Tykeson Family Charitable Trust established the first endowed faculty position at OSU-Cascades in 2010 and helped launch its Energy Systems Engineering degree program.

The Eugene-based charitable trust is operated by the owners of BendBroadband, a family-owned business which provides phone, video, and Internet services in Central Oregon. The business was founded by Donald Tykeson, who established the Tykeson Family Charitable Trust to create a mechanism to give back.

One of the first programs of its kind in the nation, the Energy Systems Engineering program at OSU-Cascades represents a growing career field that requires professionals to understand both complex engineering as well as business concepts in order to identify solutions for maximum energy efficiency.
