David Bernell is an associate professor of political science at Oregon State University, specializing in U.S. foreign policy, international relations and U.S. energy policy. He has served in the U.S. Office of Management and Budget and the Department of the Interior, shaping policy at the federal level. He is also the author of the books The Energy Security Dilemma: US Policy and Practice and Constructing US Foreign Policy: The Curious Case of Cuba. His research and experience offer a nuanced view of how evolving policies impact global movement, business and diplomatic relations.
