Career Resources

At OSU, we want to see our students and alumni succeed no matter what career path they choose. The alumni association offers several resources to help you jumpstart a new career, turn a hobby into a profession or succeed where you are now.

Résumé reviews

Did you know the average résumé submitted in a job application contains five to six errors? In today’s competitive job market, those errors could be a distinguishing factor between candidates.

Let’s make sure your résumé sets you apart from the crowd - in a good way!

Submit your résumé as a Word document to our professional development office, along with a description of the job you are applying for, and we’ll send you feedback that’ll make you shine for that interview. If you’re just getting started on your résumé, check out these OSU resources to jumpstart your writing.

The Muse

The Muse is an online career advice resource that gives you expert guidance toward your career goals. Check out this post that shares the best tips for succeeding on LinkedIn.

Career development center

The OSU Career Development Center offers alumni the same great service it provides to students. All services are free for one full year after graduation. After one year, most services remain free and available to alumni, including: Handshakeseminars and eventscareer fairs and tools and resources.

Informational interviews

The No. 1 recommendation for job seekers is to schedule informational interviews. Find people who are already doing what you want to do or working in the company where you want to work and ask them what it's like to work at their company, how they got their job and what the company looks for in candidates. This will significantly increase your chances of career growth and future opportunities.

To prepare, review the OSU Career Services guide or an article from The Muse on how to request an informational interview.
